New Polish Film Competition

The second edition of the New Polish Film Competition presents premieres of Polish feature as well as documentary films. In this competition prizes are awarded by an international jury comprised of filmmakers and critics from around the world. The winner receives the Wrocław Film Award funded by the President of the city of Wrocław worth PLN 100,000 - 25,000 € (PLN 60,000 - 15,000 € for the director, PLN 40,000  - 10,000 € for the producer).

Full-length feature and documentary films, including films made abroad by Polish producers, are invited to participate in the competition. Renown works like Plac Zbawiciela [Saviour’s Square] by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze or Jak to się robi [How to Do It] by Marcel Łoziński made a debut during last year’s competition. However, an important part of the selection is films made by young independent producers such as Wstyd [Shame] by Piotr Matwiejczyk and Przebacz [Facing Up] by Marek Stacharski that received prizes last year.
